Christmas Sugar Cookies w/ Cream Cheese Frosting

Dessert

This sugar cookie recipe has been my go-to for making Christmas cookies for years. I have such fond memories of inviting the neighborhood kids over for a Christmas cookie decorating party. (I miss those days. 😔) Maybe you can continue that family tradition in your neighborhood. This is the perfect recipe to help you do just that!

Ingredients

Ingredients for Dough:

2 cups unsalted softened butter

6 eggs

2 heaping cups sugar

2 teaspoon vanilla

2 teaspoon almond extract

6 teaspoon baking powder

6 cups flour (add more if needed for a sticky dough consistency)

Cream Cheese Frosting Recipe:

1 pound cream cheese (2 sticks)

3/4 pound unsalted butter at room temperature (3 sticks)

1 teaspoon vanilla

1/2 teaspoon almond extract

1 1/2 pounds powdered sugar

Mix in mixer.

Directions

Mix wet ingredients with sugar then slowly add baking powder and slowly add flour.

Mix well (I use my KitchenAid Stand Mixer)

Refrigerate dough for 30 minutes

Bake for 6-7 minutes at 375 on a parchment paper lined cookie sheet. (Or less depending on how your oven cooks. Check the at 5-6 minutes. I like them to be extra soft and they will continue to cook a bit after you pull them out, DON’T let them get golden brown).
