Dorito Salad

Salad

My mom used to make Dorito Salad for the family when I was growing up. We all loved it so much. She would make a HUGE bowl and it would last for days. Today, my family loves it just as much. So easy and delish!!

Ingredients
  • 2 lbs ground hamburger or Lighthouse Meatless Ground Hamburger for a vegetarian version
  • 1 Sweet Onion (diced)
  • 1-2 Tablespoons Olive Oil
  • Salt/Pepper
  • 1-2 Packages of Taco Seasoning (I like the La Tiara brand)
  • 1 Head of Iceberg Lettuce
  • 1 Cup of Mexican Shredded Cheese
  • 1-2 Tomatoes (diced, or use cherry tomatoes)
  • 1 Large Can of Ranch Style Beans with Jalapeños
  • 4-6 Green Onions (chopped)
  • A few slices of Sweet Jalapeño Slices
  • Regular or Nacho Cheese Doritos (crushed)
  • Cilantro (chopped)
  • Catalina Dressing (to taste)
Directions
  1. In a pot, add olive oil and onion with salt and pepper.
  2. Brown onions until just translucent.
  3. Add hamburger (or meatless) and brown. Drain fat.
  4. While meat is cooking cut up all vegetables.
  5. To assemble, add chopped iceberg, hamburger, beans, cheese, tomatoes green onions, cilantro and sweet jalapeños.
  6. Pour over Catalina Dressing to taste and toss. YUM!
