Homemade Turmeric Shots (Nature's Super Food)

Appetizer

Did you know Turmeric is known as one of the world’s healthiest super foods? A relative of ginger, this vivid yellow-orange spice is common in Indian, Southeast Asian, and Middle Eastern cooking. It's also been used as medicine in places like India for centuries to treat issues such as breathing problems. Lately, Turmeric has been touted as a super food that can fight cancer, ease depression, and more.

Turmeric is a powerful anti-inflammatory rich with antioxidants that neutralizes free radicals and has been proven more effective, in some cases, to some with rheumatoid arthritis than anti-inflammatory drugs.

It also may help combat depression and increases a level of a brain hormone known as BDNF, which may increase the production of new neurons and combats degenerative disease in the brain.

And, here’s another benefit…Turmeric contains lipopolysaccharides, endotoxins that boost immunity and lower the risk of colds, flu, and other infections. (Hello #COVID! Take that!) Drinking turmeric water daily, especially in winter can help the body in defending against pesky viruses.

Ingredients

1 Cup Fresh Turmeric Root

2 Lemons Juiced

1 Small Orange Juiced

1-1/2 to 2 Cups Coconut Water

1 Teaspoon Fresh Cracked Pepper

Directions

Simply add all ingredients to a blender, like a Nutribullet or a Vitamix. No need to peel the Turmeric as you will strain it after blending.

Blend, strain, and shoot away! Keep in the fridge for up to a week. Just make sure to shake before shooting.
